Recognized as a leader in our field, New Futures receives national attention and awards. In 2008 we received the following recognition:

  • Laura Silverstein, Associate Director, was selected as a Learning Circle Fellow by the American Evaluation Association.

Laura is one of 14 evaluators nationally who will participate in the one-year program designed for mid-career professionals. After being trained and participating in evaluation “learning circles” for six months, the fellows will lead other evaluation colleagues in the process.

“By connecting New Futures with evaluation professionals across the country, this fellowship program is really an opportunity to ensure that we are evaluating our programs to the best of our capacity,” Laura said.

“Thoughtful, ongoing evaluation helps us understand how best to partner with low-income families to help their kids thrive in school and at home.”

National Recognition

New Futures was one of two nonprofits in the Puget Sound area to be awarded the prestigious 2007 Neighborhood Builder Award by the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, as part of the bank’s Neighborhood Excellence Initiative.

The award provides recipients with $200,000 in operating support over a two-year period. It also sponsors an innovative leadership development program for the executive director and an emerging leader to learn with other nonprofits leaders from across the country.
